Babassu Detangling Conditioner is a protein-free detangling conditioner for curly and coily hair that gives high slip in one rinse-out step. Cationic conditioners and babassu oil let fingers and combs glide, so knots release instead of snapping.
It's the everyday rinse-out. The Babassu Deep Conditioner is the 30-minute treatment. Both are protein-free.
Who it's for
Type 3 and Type 4 hair that tangles on wash day — a detangler for curly hair that also works as a 4C hair detangler for shrinkage-prone coils. It's a protein-free conditioner and coconut-oil-free, so sensitive curls can use it daily.
What's inside this detangling conditioner
- Cetrimonium chloride + stearamidopropyl dimethylamine — cationic conditioners, meaning positively charged. They stick to rough, negatively charged spots on the strand and smooth them, which is where the slip comes from.
- Babassu seed oil — melts close to body temperature, so it spreads easily and softens without grease.
- Avocado oil — oleic-rich, so it absorbs instead of coating.
- Panthenol (provitamin B5) — a humectant that holds water inside the strand, keeping it flexible while you detangle.
- Rice bran oil — the oil, not rice protein.
How to detangle 4C hair without breakage
- Cleanse with the Neem Tea Tree or Coconut Shea Shampoo Bar, then gently squeeze out the excess water.
- Apply generously from root to tip and divide your hair into sections.
- Detangle each section from the ends up to the roots, with your fingers first and then a wide-tooth comb. Let the slip do the work, and don't tug.
- Rinse with cool water. On deep-conditioning days, apply the Babassu Deep Conditioner next.
- Follow with Curl Moisture Cream, Sweet Almond Heavy Cream or Twist Whip Butter.
What to expect
You'll feel the slip the first time you use it, with fewer broken strands in the comb and a faster wash day. Softness builds over the next few washes.
